RE-UP: BEYOND BORDERS #1

After the big event which occurred this past Tuesday with our neighbors across the border, I thought I’d start a series of posts in tribute to Canadian/American collaborations.

VANS FULL CAB FALL 09

Here’s a look at an upcoming release of Full Cabs that will be available later this fall. They appear to have some frogskin-like accents, which definitely ties into what I said before about Vans trying out some new materials. This will release as part of the core collection so you’ll be sure to have some arch support insoles in this mother.

VANS VAULT FALL/WINTER ’09

I just got a little peak at a portion of the Vans Vault collection for the later part of this year, and I was really blown away. As usual, Vans did not disappoint.

Shaun Gladwell has a clip that plays on the FutureShop/Winners screen (Granville & Robson) every three minutes. I haven’t seen it but it’s a clip from his ‘Storm Sequence’ skate vid pictured above. As I understand this isn’t the first time the city and galleries have rented time on the screen to show art. I don’t usually pay attention to it but it’s cool that it’s used for things like this from time to time.

SOULWAX SET

This is actually really good… it’s from the “PART OF THE WEEKEND NEVER DIES” tour which came through Van. This mix in particular is almost a 2008 electro summary in itself as they manage to throw in every serious banger from last year. Soulwax hold it down live, from mixing to instrumentation to coordinated outfits.
